I remember this so well. What a great testimony and illustration of how our modest efforts are always successful because it is not us doing the work, but God through the Holy Spirit. Will everyone we witness to be saved? No. But its only our job to plant and water and to rest in the knowledge that God will do the rest. I cant count the number of times Gene has been asked, How successful are you? or How many have you led to the Lord? His answers are, Every time I present the gospel Im successful. and I lead people to the Lord every time I share the gospel. We are successful when are obedient to his command to share the gospel. Every time you share the gospel you are leading someone to the Lord. They may not be saved right there on the spot, but you have done your job by pointing them to the Lord and planting a seed.
