I retract my last post. Sometimes its not the small things that get you. I was told from day 1, rule number one in being around wild cats is DO NOT FALL. If you fall or run, instincts kick in. Whatever you do, DO NOT focus on a pink elephant in your mind. What are you focused on? Getting in with the younger cats, they are playful. They go for your feet trying to trip you. Its cute and funny when they are small cats. Yesterday Elsumi took me to go see her African Wild Cats, Cervals, and cavils. To go to them you must go though the enclosure with the younger lions. No problem. Then you go though a cage of 9 1 year old animals. I had been in once before. They seemed to agreesive, and too many of them for Me, so I left pretty quickly. (Im not a complete dummy) This time, they are all over us, from all directions. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a larger 200 lb lion flying though the air at me. It hits me. I turn into it. Its looking me in the face. I forget if Im grabbing his massive paws or his face, but I throw him down, Slap him and say no, bad lion! All the while fighting off several others, and of course Elsumi is defending me too. Im proud to say I had no fear during the action. However we have to go back through the same cage! It was twilight before, now its darker. I have to admit, I understand getting back on the horse when you fall off, but back through the same cage? Brave Elsumi (more about her tomorrow.) went first and yelled at them to stay back, as I walked (not ran) to exit the cage. When I first Firewalked I was terrified. John Mailsel and Ted Shaw, were fantastic and got me through it. When I asked what the trick was, John said there is none, the coals are really 1200 degrees. But all firewalk instructors know that if the coals are prepared right, there is no chance of serious injury. Last night Elsumi and her boyfriend took me to the local pub. (Only open on Fridays. All farmers). We were telling other farmers our tales from the day. After a few drinks I ask Elsumi about what she thought the cats intention was? I was taken back by the answer. She said if the lions intention was to kill me I would have been dead. However her intention was to take me down! If I would have fallen, Elsumi said, all 9 lions would have pounced me by instinct, and she could not have stopped them. (Gulp!) Do you have people in your life that are Nipping at you, trying to make you fall? Get rid of them! Today I am filled with an incredible amount of gratitude! I am surrounded by so many loyal, long term friends. Its just amazing, the people I have in my life. Thank you! Im also grateful to be alive! Finally I am also grateful, that under the influence I did not get back into that cage in the middle of the night alone last night. I seriously thought about. So much gratitude!
