I saw the smallest manatee that Ive ever seen today - right here at work at Boca Chica Marina. Naval Air Station Key West. The pictures dont really do the size justice. The mother was at an angle - tail submerged - so the size comparison isnt accurate. The baby is no longer than 3 feet - maybe less. So CUTE. The hose in the picture was OFF. We do not feed manatees fresh water - although they love it - there is a $5000 fine for allowing a manatee to drink fresh water from your hose. This hose was off - I think they were nosing around trying to find fresh water but they didnt get any from me! :) Had to share this - the baby was just SO CUTE!
