I spent close to an hour driving a pickup truck up long driveways in a ritzy neighborhood in Chittenden County looking for someone for whom I only had a first name. There were many neighborhood watch signs, and I fully expected to have police show up to ask what I was doing. Apparently none of the watchers called in to report on this activity. And I was reminded of how disconnected our neighborhoods are: no one knew the neighbor, even people living one or two houses away.
