I still contemplate how so many people think that having an insurance policy means having health care. So perplexing. Guess Im from the generation before health insurance and an era when people went to the dr. when it was necessary and, at the age I am now, werent on a minimum of three prescription meds. They just lived until they didnt anymore. Weve progressed from this to having a health insurance policy that costs more than peoples house payments that doesnt kick in until a large sum of cash is paid for deductible (as much as one would pay for a good used car) and then the co-pays (which is about the amount we used to pay without insurance). People dont appear to be any healthier today although they may live a bit longer. (I recently talked to a 29 year old who is on 8 prescription meds!) As I think back, I would guess that a much larger percentage of peoples income is coming out of peoples pockets as way back when (without insurance). Someone is padding their pockets with the difference. I guess it comes down to, where do we place our trust and where does our hope come from? My million dollar question for the day. I need to go renew my mind now - Bible reading (refocus) time!
