I think I must have misunderstood what I just heard on NPR: that the GOP intends to fund the government until March, then, to punish Obama for his Executive Action on immigration, the GOP will withhold all funds from DHS. If this is really what the GOP intends to do, it will have to explain how stopping all deportations, shutting down detention facilities, not to mention creating a situation where well have virtual open borders will enhance their cause. Meanwhile, USCIS, the agency that will carry out the Executive Order by processing requests from the affected population, will be greatly unaffected because it is almost entirely fee-funded, except for FDNS, of course, but not caring about national security and fraud prevention would be entirely consistent with de-funding ICE and CBP. Have they ever heard of cutting ones nose to spite ones face?
