I think I will write an essay about the kind of monetary reform we need. We need freedom FROM money rather than freedom THROUGH money. I find the SWISSINDO idea to be a form of money worship, preaching the gospel of money and the idea that everyone will be better off when we have more money. It doesnt deal with any of the fundamental problems, such as the unsustainability of a debt-based monetary economic system or the sickness of continual growth. We should seek a balance rather than growth. We should learn to live within our means rather than constantly seeking more. We should teach the concept of sufficiency and embrace the virtue of caring for others. Money doesnt do these things by its nature; it teaches greed and selfishness. What will the money released through SWISSINDO be used for? Will we all run out and buy things from Wal-mart? Will we take airplane trips to other parts of the world, further polluting the atmosphere and exacerbating global warming? The focus should be on the PURPOSES which will be served by having more money rather than the money itself. What needs to be done? Purpose is a virtue when the purpose is virtue. Caring is a virtue. If our purpose is to care for humanity and all life on Earth then that is a good thing. If our purpose is selfish desire fulfillment then it is probably a bad thing. We need to CONSUME LESS and SHARE MORE. This is a message that is missing from SWISSINDO.
