I think Im happily somewhere in between...Does that make me a 90s mom? Gahhhhh! My morning looked more like: 1. Promise myself I will fill out the all about my son sheet for his homeroom teacher the night before he goes to school. And then forget to fill it out. 2. Promised myself I will get up 20 minutes early and fill it out. Then, in the morning, hit the snooze five times. 3. Promise son I will fill it out this evening and he can get it to his teacher tomorrow. Im sure she wont mind. She probably has kids too. 4. Text daughter upstairs that shed better be up by now....from bed, because I hit the snooze five times. 5. Remind son to say good morning to the dog and feed the dog, also remind him to change his socks. 5. Somehow miraculously within 30 minutes create two separate lunches catered to two separate palates, make quick breakfast (sorry Im out of Nutella...AND crepes), hot tea with organic honey, throw some jeans on, dont forget the earrings, make sure everybody has their backpacks ready, and fly out the door to take daughter to high school, send her off with a positive affirmation and a reminder that after school today she has Japanese, and smile when I get an ughhh in response. Watch her run into school and feel that bittersweet heart tug as she disappears around the corner of the building (every day). 6. Be home hopefully in time to say goodbye to son who walks to school. Realize that aint gonna happen as I drive back home, and that a honk and a wave is a sucky substitute for a hug goodbye. (Cue heart tug) 7. Tell myself at home that todays the day! I will get it all done. Paint that back bedroom, straighten the house, do the bills, write, meditate, think think think, stretch, make art, crank tunes, play with Iggy, plan to save the world, refinance, make returns, shop for dinner, connect with friends, call mom n dad, make appointments for 2 kids and myself, call insurance companies (again), check email, check facebook (hello!), consider going dairy free again, drink lots of water, plan a beach day, plan a mountain day, enjoy the silence, notice birds, let something amaze me, reach out, reach in... Breathe. 8. Realize I might have enough time to pick up house, think, check Facebook, drink water and stretch... 9. Schools out, time to start the evening. 10. Im leaving giant chunks out of the story of my day. I need a coffee.
