I think all of us can relate to this one at some time in our lives.... Dear Amazing Girl, It is not unreasonable to expect others to treat us with dignity, respect and kindness. Sometimes we go so long through life being treated badly that we actually begin to expect to be treated badly....and we not only put up with it, we even begin to seek out the kinds of people who treat us this way because we are comfortable with it. It really is not okay for others to demean you, put you down, lie to you, insult you, talk behind your back and make fun of you. This is not friendship, it is not love, and it is simply not decent behavior. Dear sister....dear dear dear sister...please do not allow others to treat you this way. Many broken people who feel powerless will seek out others to help them to feel some false sense of power, and what is messed up about this is that they seek out those who need most to be lifted up and reminded of their goodness. This is how painful, destructive cycles continue. It is hard at first to make new boundaries and new rules for how we are to be treated....but if we do not teach others how we want to be treated, we will not be treated in the ways we deserve. You deserve kindness, respect and dignity. You deserve to be seen as a unique and valuable individual. You are good and you are important and your life is just as valuable as everyone else’s life is, dear girl. Please believe this. Do not let others mistreat you. There are good and kind people in the world...lots of them...those are the people who deserve to be with you wonderful you. Be good to yourself. You are so very loved...so very very very loved. xoxo from the Brave girls club
