I think at times the media goes overboard with weather news. However, this cold weather we are to experience isnt to be taken lightly. Many areas in the country have a wind chill threshold used to determine the safety of students in their ability to get to school. This is nothing new. Granted, Massachusetts doesnt often hit the threshold which as I understand it is -10° or -15°. Wisconsin and Minnesota have a -25° wind chill threshold While the media makes people fear weather along with everything else, it should be respected (The weather, not the media.)
