I think by sharing this it might vex some people, particularly if this topic hasnt been considered before. It could come across as elitist, for instance. But I can assure you that I get these kinds of opportunity requests often, and just as often wonder if I should just say NO. There are probably a bakers dozen of ways I dont realize that I myself am also part of the problem of undermining artists by certain actions I do without thinking. However - I think its still worth sharing to possibly encourage the general public to think about how they value art (or if they only value it if it is free). I want to reinforce that although artists should seriously consider just say NO more often, the article concludes with some good hearty YESes, too.
