I think growing up comes with realising that therell always be men - TopicsExpress

I think growing up comes with realising that therell always be men out there, better than your man, who will pursue you. Theyll be smarter, drive bigger cars, live in nicer houses, have more money, be more handsome and be gentler than he is. And while the idea of them may from time to time pass through your mind, as a grown up person, you always take time to sit back and think about all the things that are right with your own man, and at that point it dawns on you that those right things are too significant to be traded in for temporary excitement and an infantile desire for exploration. Sure, from time to time youll flirt with the possibility, constantly wondering what it would feel like to be with such men. After all, the grass always looks greener on the other side. But you get to that point, I dont know when really, but you do, somewhere in your 20s I suppose. You sit one night, as Im sitting now, thinking hard. You get to that point where you become content with what you have. You get to a point where even if you could have all those better men at the blink of an eye, you choose, consciously and deliberately, to stay where you are and to continue to love what you have. You come to appreciate that with all his weaknesses and imperfections, your man is a great person who, most of the time, is the reason for the smile on your face. You come to value the BOND you share. Maybe there is a point in every womans life where she chooses to settle, where she realises that the world is like one big candy factory, and we are just like 5 year olds in it. There are so many different colours, tastes, textures to choose from in the factory. Thousands of different candies! But a woman cant eat all that candy without getting sick or broke(n). So she must pick the one candy that she wants most, after careful consideration, then go to the counter, pay for it and walk out of the store. Even if she looks back at what she left behind (it is only natural to wonder), the trick is to keep walking forward, to keep heading towards home, to never go back inside the factory in an attempt to try to take something different again, because once you do so, once you allow yourself to get back inside that factory after having invested in your choice of candy, youre never walking out. And no one, no one can eat all the candy in the factory. It is inevitable that ultimately, the candy will kill you...
