I think its important to remember, when its so easy to demonize - TopicsExpress

I think its important to remember, when its so easy to demonize policemen for the idiocy displayed by particularly the NYPD, we have to remember that it is the police force and not the policemen that are the problem. Policemen are purposely selected for their low IQs, more malleable than more intelligent people. They are recruited for how easily they will follow and complete orders. Following protocols on how to arrest a supposed suspect leads to injuries and deaths, and even worse the racist tendencies of some policemen flare up in stressful situations, and often the least intelligent among us are the most ignorant and the most racist. Sure, go after the policemen who do the terrible things, no doubt. But the channels for punishing them are always internal and they will usually just get let off with a suspension with pay. Its the police departments themselves that are the problem...a power structure that lends itself to non-punishment of its officers and recruitment tactics designed to get the least intelligent and most malleable people to become officers. As we learned from the Nazis, so many of them were just following orders to a T, their propaganda made them feel completely justified in doing whatever it took to follow instructions. Demonizing the policemen themselves only antagonizes them, and makes them feel like they have even more of a right to use brutal force to subdue people when they feel endangered. F#$% the police!
