I think its time this group matured & people got to post educative, significant updates.I mean,if you are experienced in any element of rap (Freestyling,Battling e.t.c) you can volunteer to help out other pips here.By doing that, wed be aiding each other to sharpen their skills and grow their talents to the maximum. For a start off,let me share something on lyricism. Hint:TOO MUCH emphasis on RYME is what makes most rappers under-utilise their full lyrical potential. I dont post much here but I observe many of the verses updated. Most (If probably not all),rhyme at the END of a line. Many of the verses are structured this way (Take the ¤ symbol to indicate Ryme); ........................¤ ........................¤ ........................¤ ........................¤ Now while that is not bad,its VERY COMMON.So unless you have a unique twist of word harmony & combination, you may have concrete punchlines and word-play but your verse will still look & sound common. When it commes to Rhyme,I go for the Hidden Ryme.In this kind, you strategically rhyme at the inner parts of your verse. This will in turn change the outlook & structure of your verse. Heres an example; .........¤,........ .........¤,........ ...................¤ ...................¤ This is especially efective if you are a fast rapper or you pause in between your lines. Another hint to good lyricism is;READ,READ,READ.Im not talking bout going to College and PHDs or something of the sort,no.Im talking about the voluntary effort of taking time to refresh your vocabulary.ANY great lyricist must love books.Read widely, google out relevant words & phrases, check your dictionary and study other know great lyricists verses. As you study their verses, youll notice a myriad of words that will seem very foreign yet very captivating. Dont always use the obvious vocab. used by other rappers.Get out of mediocracy and strive to stand out above the average. And heres the strange thing, when people notice new, unknown words/phrases in your verse, some appreciate while most havent at all understood anything. Id be glad if another volunteer would offer his/her advice on another rap element.
