I think poorly of Devdutt Pattnaik because I find him extraordinarily pompous and too set up in his conceit. I also despise his habit of trying to reduce the megacorpus of all that has come to be called Hindu religion(s), and finding patterns/sense in what is essentially a massive collection of lore, mythologies and edicts, with a deep and powerful undercurrent of spirituality. But at the same time, his perspectives are vastly interesting and intriguing, and this is just one of them.
