I think remembering that Christmas isnt the happiest time of year for everyone is sobering. I have no idea what its like to be in the situations of some of my family members, frends, and students. I have watched them battle illness, lose their families, lose their homes, and escape domestic violence. Both sides of my family, maternal and paternal taught to me to have faith, work hard, and help others. They would shoot out sayings like walk a mile in someones shoes before you judge and follow the golden rule to treat others as you want to be treated. In the face of so much adversify, remembering the light still flickers, even in the face of despair, is tough. I do believe though, the wrong will fail, the right prevail, and that we should all do our part to work for peace on earth this Christmas. Light someones spirit. Give a hug. Im so very grateful for the community members who have circled me to remind me these lessons.
