I think this picture really epitomizes mid-century Chicago. You got the North Shore Line Electroliner up on the L at Wilson with the all different people in the foreground with an industrial feel with both the L structure and in the background with the Goldblatts sign on the water tower. The 1920s Beaux Arts station house that was stripped away in the name of modernization that will soon also claim the North Shore Line as well. The older streetlights being imposed upon by the new orange glow of the sodium vapor lamps. It really represents many different times in one singular moment.
