I thought it was interesting yesterday (Veterans Day), when on MSNBCs Morning Joe, a commentator stated that (while discussing our all-volunteer military) we have a modern warrior class that is small and more isolated than veterans in the past. That few Americans know any veterans or current military members. It kind of makes sense to make such a generalization, but,......while taking an admittedly random straw poll in the sixth grade class Im involved with, Nearly 90%!!!!! of the kids either have a relative, parent, or family friend thats either in the military, or a veteran (whew, thats the longest sentence ever!! LOL). Sooo, either the commentator has his head up his nether region (and as disconnected as most DC insiders are), or the students are part of an anamolous group. Granted, our military is smaller than ever before, but weve basically been at war with somebody since the end of the Korean Peace Action. So theres certainly no shortage of veterans out there! My point is that for a supposedly peaceful nation, we sure seem to expend a lot of our collective energy on creating veterans! Just sayin! :-/
