I thought that was him as I left the ladies clothing store, strolled across the hot pavement to my car......hadnt seen him in years, really didnt know him well. We had a mutual friend who is no longer in circulation so now our paths seldom cross. He spoke. Is that you? I was thinking the same thing. Long visit, standing in the hot August sun on the too hot pavement, we reminisced, laughed over jokes hed played on our friend in the past, caught up on families...He has dodged retirement for years, hoping to continue work indefinitely. Im crazy enough, out of all I could be doing, this is what I WANT to do. We finally parted ways, I continued to my car, musing over our visit...I watched as he spritely closed the distance between him and the chain of stores...Why, he marched right into the ladies clothing store!! Thats unique!! I pondered. He mentioned his ailing wife, if Id known he was making a purchase for her, perhaps I could have assisted him.....About that time he came flying back OUT the door....took a few steps away, threw his head way back and reread the sign above the entry way...turned, strolled a door down and went into Big Lots...Priceless. ..I laughed all the way out of the parking lot. . My first instinct was to wheel around, park, march into Big Lots and ask Joe, find what you need over there at Catos? But I didnt. Thats the Joe I remember!!!
