I thought you might like to know some interesting/random facts about the book: 1. The surfing scenes in the book are based on factual knowledge - I used to spend a lot of time in Devon and cornwall bodyboarding when I was younger! 2. The character of Pigi originally had another name, but it was thought that it wasnt suitable for the book, so she was re-named. Not by me though, we have the lovely Sharon Gormley Voutou, to thank for the name that made the cut! Thank you Sharon :) 3. The original idea for the story came from one sentence. Something someone said to me while visiting the island in 2005. I have no idea how entire book was formed from it, but Im happy with the outcome. 4. It took me ages to finalise the book title. Other ideas for the book name were - Island of the lost and The cliffs of Betrayal 5. Lots of research was done for this book. The most harrowing was reading real life accounts of Greek women who joined the resistance. Their bravery was amazing but most of them were either interred or killed for their part in fighting for their country.
