I truly respect leaders that have a passion for doing what is - TopicsExpress

I truly respect leaders that have a passion for doing what is right. They seem to understand the cost of being under public scrutiny and they seem to overlook the assault of those who have opposed them before. On the other hand. Some leaders choose to defy what is right and seek their own personal agenda at the cost of regional stability. Our regional organizations have a purpose to fulfill. The work they provide for the permanent residents of our region are clearly defined. The intentional overlap and unwarranted overreach into another organizations operations through hostile measures creates unnecessary conflict. I believe AVCP Inc handles all the non profit activities of our region and it has been granted the authority to handle major political activities on behalf of all tribes in the Y/K delta. The steering committee that was formed under the for profit ANCSA Regional Corporation (Calista) undermines the integrity of AVCP and its president. Attacking the standing president outside of normal elections and seeking his removal is terribly unjust. The chairman of the board of the Calista Corporation is leading many good people astray. Those who embrace him and hail him as a fearless leader are aiding and abetting in his dereliction against the norms. The spirit of the lawless believe that they are outside the normal rules of law. Rules, regulations, bylaws, policies, and etc can be overridden and rewritten. Does this sound right? Many respectable leaders of our region have turned on their colleague who was elected into office by the majority of delegates who represented all the tribes during an annual AVCP Convention. AVCP is a platform for all the tribes of our region. AVCP provides a unified voice in most highly publicized political matters that affect day to day village life. Now, today. The regional for profit company wants to usurp this clout and control the platform. I remember when the regional non profit and the regional for profit organizations used to work together and talk with a unified voice. That unity is being dismantled today. Creating another regional non profit organization is not the answer. The federal and state governments already recognizes AVCP as the go to organization to reach the tribes. I believe the old system worked quite well, until a vacuum was created by Calista to upset the apple cart. I support Myron P Naneng Sr as the president of AVCP and I stake my personal reputation on it. He has done an outstanding job over the years despite all the ups and downs. I know and believe that AVCP is still the political conduit for our federally recognized tribes. I do not favor those who are trying to remove Myron from office. These people just want someone they can control and use AVCPs political clout and federal recognition to further their own cause. Our current regional organizations have checks and balances to guard against abuse of power. Using political measures against one another is likened to a house that is terribly divided. A house divided will not stand. The admin staff of AVCP should not have to keep looking over their shoulder to guard themselves from the people who are supposed to be working with them. I just hope the next generations of leaders are aware of what is happening and learn from it. All this turmoil will end up costing all tribal members and all the shareholders of Calista some hard earned resources. In fighting any household hurts the rest of the other occupants. Some can say that I do not understand what is going on but that will not change my view. Good leaders stand up for what they believe regardless of the political tide. I am not seeking favor or office. I am not using a current conflict for my own benefit but for the well being of all the beloved members of our region. True service is completely sacrificial and it requires your whole heart. I just hate unnecessary division and conflict. If the leadership of Calista do not offer to seek peace. We can seek change the right way. True leadership is not about personal ego and maintaining an opposition. Its about bringing the right type of unity to bring about prosperity. I support the leadership of AVCP in this conflict because they have handled this conflict the right way. Its leadership does not meet behind closed doors to plan methods of attack. I guess we are collateral damage in this conflict. I have not heard or witnessed the leadership of AVCP planning some type of take over of Calista. If there is, I have not been privied to it. I believe AVCP has brought more money into our region and into the villages than Calista. Granted that Calista has to distributed 7i and 7j revenue under ANCSA71 every year that brings about bail out money for some village corporations. Other than that, I wanted to thank the previous president and the previous chairman of the Calista for the dividends we receive today. Their strategic planning and visionary work brought Calista out of the outhouse and into the mainstream. Are we so blinded today that we cannot remember this truth? I am acutely aware of a lot money that flows through our region because of tribal government contracting and grants. The non profit arm of our region has poured millions into our villages. It continues to pour a lot of revenue into the region through hard work. If I had to cast my vote today on who to support for the presidency of AVCP, it would still be Myron P Naneng Sr. God bless Myron and God bless AVCP. I know this post will land me in very hot water for a long time but it is a choice I choose to make.
