I use the pools here to relax at night, mainly just floating - TopicsExpress

I use the pools here to relax at night, mainly just floating around on my back, smiling and taking in the beauty of the night sky. Recently, I went to the smaller pool, designated for the residents in my section in the community. When I arrived, there was a man there doing laps. As I was stepping into the pool, he asked which side of the pool I wanted. Neither said Hello nor, asked the others name. Because I had removed my glasses, I could not see his face. His head sort of blended into the lines of the fence behind him in the tricky twilight. What I saw was a flesh-toned cloud. If there had been another person there, the Cloudman could have stepped on the other mans neck for ten minutes in the deep end and, the police would be frustrated to learn that I couldnt identify either of them. Being the gentle, blind soul that I am, I chose a side and stayed there, floating like a piece of deadwood until he left. Had he also been deadwood, we could have had the same amount of conversation. Cloudman did his laps vigorously, alternating between different styles, as if preparing for all of the Olympic swimming events simultaneously. One of these strokes (I am unfamiliar with the actual name of the stroke so, if I were to give it a name, I would call it Lungeing), produced some strong waves, interfering with my attempts at practicing my beloved Bobbing on the surface of the water like a bug stroke. This disruption, combined with my having all that idle time, triggered the evil side of my brain to kick in. I thought that, when he asked what side I wanted, I should have told Cloudman that I was pretty sure my home-ownership in this section entitled me to the use of the entire pool and, I intended to use every inch. Of course, the good and logical side then informed me that confrontation would be to Cloudmans advantage since, unless he also suffered from Magoopia, he knew what I looked like and, should he want to the next night we met, he would only work on Lungeing. Cloudman finished his laps, dried off and left, wishing me a good evening as he went. I wished him the same, smiling, bobbing and admiring the night sky. At least, I think thats what I saw.
