I used to work for an old woman somewhere in Monrovia, California way back in 2003 and one day after 8 months, I had this allergy attack for the first time in my life that I could hardly breath while taking care of this old woman...I was rushed to the hospital then and the doctor advised me not to work for a couple of months...the reason why I was permanently replaced by another person to do the job I left...it was so hard then when you thought that youre here to make a living to support your family back home and not to get sick...after two weeks of resting, so many texts that I had been receiving from the Philippines not even saying how was i doing but asking when I was going to send money for the tuition fees of my children...it wasnt that so easy for me then with my illness on the one hand and the pressure on the other hand...so I decided to get a job though I wasnt that so well yet, I had my neck and both arms covered with rashes...but I need to work to earn no matter what...so I applied and I was just putting a scarf on my neck and wearing long sleeves to cover the rashes on my arms...I thanked God for the season that was starting to get cooler already...Do you know what a Quadriplegic is? said an agent...yes I do (how would I know, never heard of it my entire life way back then)...so do you know how to do suction then?...yes I do I answered with matching kulba...haaay na lang grabeng pamakak basta lang maka trabaho....when I saw the patient in the hospital with all the gadgets on her body for the first time...kaatrason ko...one side of my head said no you cant do this and the other side said yes you can do it...just believe in yourself...and yes I sure did...GUTS is the name of the game for 11 years and counting still doing good... HAPPY 11th Anniversary to us KATARINA!
