I usually dont post Philippine politics on my wall since majority - TopicsExpress

I usually dont post Philippine politics on my wall since majority of my friends do that already. But this news got my panties in wad. This is what happens when people vote for all the wrong reasons; FREE MONEY (vote selling) and CELEBRITY STATUS. I admire Manny Pacman Pacquiao as a boxer but not as a politician. He has been ineffective because of his lack of knowledge (a high school dropped out with GED equivalent) and because his heart is not in it. He has the most absences in congress as he takes off here and there to train for his next fight. He has trouble with the BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue) for undisclosed income and he claimed to be broke though his and his familys lavish lifestyle is always on the tabloids. If he cant even manage his own finances, how can we expect him to know how to manage affairs of his district as a congressman? Now, he wants to run for senator and he reportedly wants to run for president someday. Gee whiz! This is because Pacquiaos desire to be in public service is NOT to serve the country and people but for the prestige and accolades that come with the position. He cant get enough of the superficial titles that come with his name, Congressman Manny, Senator Manny, President Manny, etc. He has the right to set his ambition high and he can be all he wants to be. But for the sake of the country and people, he should not think of himself first. BUT MOSTLY, I PUT THE BLAME ON THE STUPID, UNINFORMED AND CORRUPT VOTERS WHO VOTE FOR SELFISH REASONS. GISING NA PINOY! Your complacency and apathy contribute to our countrys woes. We can only progress as a country like South Korea and Japan if we follow the examples of their citizens who are proactive and never vote for the wrong reasons on the first place. They rose amidst the rubble of war and made their respective country one of the economic powers in Asia and the world. When a politician is involved in a scandal, the people demand that the public servant resigns from his post. Sometimes, the disgraced politician even commits Hara-kiri (suicide) to give honor back to the family. But in the Philippines, the corrupt politicians caught with their hands in the cookie jar dont have a smidgen of decorum to resign from their post (kapit-tuko) and they even have the temerity to get mad at those who accused them of wrongdoing. The Philippines used to be the Tiger of Asia and was respected by its neighbors. If they can do it, so can we! CHANGE STARTS FROM WITHIN IN EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US. WE HAVE TO CHANGE OUR MINDSET AND DO THE RIGHT THING. If we do this, good things will fall in place. The measly sum they get for selling vote is only enough for a day or two of sustenance. But the consequences of their actions are far worse and far longer term. Who suffers the most? The poor people, no doubt. newsinfo.inquirer.net/645904/pacquiao-urged-be-more-active-as-congressman
