I want to discuss something that, I am sure, happens to many real estate salespeople and mortgage brokers on a daily basis. The subject is unorthodox behavior of some of ours fellow agents. Basically, while we had one of our listings on the market, another agent was pursuing our client to cancel our listing and re-list him/her. The promise was lower commission percentage. At least, thats what our client told us. Obviously, our client was a little naive to reveal this information, but not naive enough to disclose the name of that agent. We had the right not to cancel the listing, but I was too curious to find out who is that unscrupulous fellow who is so determined to get our listing. Our client was instructed exactly what needs to be said and called several times per day furiously demanding the cancellation. So, we canceled. Guess what, the new listing appeared the next day. To my surprise, the agent turned out to be russian. I always thought that russian agents have a lot more integrity than that. I guess, not. My next step, obviously, is to file complaint with Treb and Reco, which I will do on Monday. I will make sure, that this agent will be punished and will learn the lesson the hard way. But I want to know what my fellow agents think about all of this.
