I want to give a huge, heartfelt thanks of gratitude to the firefighters and first responders who are battling this fire. They have come from near and far, left their own lives back home, to come here and protect our community. I also want to give a huge shout out of thanks to the local farmers and ranchers who stood the line with their trucks and tankers of water to hold this monster back. People ask me why I choose to live in a small town, and this is a prime example. We stick together, we bolster each other up and stand our ground. Even in times of inclement danger, The Dallesians are one voice, one mind.....we protect our own. This makes me darn proud to live here! Please, if you see a firefighter, tell them thank you and mean it!
