I want to share the latest news on Joyces condition. Monday a week ago, Joyce was admitted to the hospital a few days after a chemotherapy treatment. She had an infection and with resistance to infection practically nil, it had spread through her body. It took a few days to stabilize her and she was given her intensive treatment with antibiotics. Last Monday doctors removed her port and found bacteria trapped in it. Joyce improved but she still had severe neck and back pain. An MRI revealed more pockets of infection around her spine. Yesterday she had surgery to clean and drain these areas and the surgery was successful. She is already showing improvement, but she will remain hospitalized for a while. This is not the sort of news I would normally share on Facebook, but I know that so many people care about Joyce and are concerned about her, that this would be an appropriate time to do so. We appreciate all of the prayers and good thoughts and I will update everyone occasionally. Thank you to our family and friends who have so generously helped in this time of need.
