I was Joanne Whelan, lived at 33 Lowana Terrace, Taperoo, went to Largs North Primary School all my Primary Years to 74. My father Bronte worked at ICI. I Loved living here and was genuinely upset when my parents chose to leave the city and take us to the country for a better life. I cherish my younger years and wouldnt change them for the earth. So many memories, I played netball, swam at Macks Swimming club, Dad insisted I did drama classes at Le Fevre High. My grandparents lived in many Police Houses. Pa was a Police Sargeant working at Port Adelaide, Sempahore, Kilkenny, Rosewater and the Adelaide watch house in latter years, their last home not a police one though was in Woodville. Childhood memories include the Semaphore train going all the way to the beach, the foreshore and side shows, Birkenhead bridge opening, many memories that just make me smile remembering them. Reading others comments have made me laugh remembering different things, one coming to mind was when my parents nearly lost our VW Bug on Snowdens Beach, the Troubridge was heading back up Port River and the wake nearly carried us off. Great times. xx Jo Case
