I was disturbed by what Mark Waid wrote about why Wally Wood left Daredevil in his otherwise-great article about the 50-year history of the character, Blind Luck: Fifty Years of Daredevil, in the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con souvenir book: Wood--never the most reliable deadline-slayer himself--left after a year... Of course that wasnt the reason, according to Wood himself: Stan was the scripter, but I was coming up with most of the ideas. It finally got to the point where I told him that if he was the writer, he’d have to come up with the plots. So, we just sat across the desk from one another in silence. Wood left after watching Lee collect the writers paycheck for stories that Wood wrote, Marvel Method-style. So not only does Waid let Lee off the hook, but he damages Woods reputation by implying that he was taken off the book for missing deadlines. Sad. comic-con.org/cci/souvenir-book
