I was in Jamaica this year Feb - March and something has to - TopicsExpress

I was in Jamaica this year Feb - March and something has to seriously be done about the conditions of Jamaica. Obviously serious corruption going on because the money is just not hitting the places that really need it. The divide between rich and poor in Jamaica is obvious and bold. It still carries the air of rich plantation owners and poor citizen of Jamaica. It seems like nobody with the power is standing up for the little guy, but also Jamaicans really need to generally develop a new attitude to try to improve our country. Its not entirely their fault for their lack of passion to improve their society, I have already outlined the lack of help. But there needs to be more of a communal movement to stand up for their rights (no pun intended). When Im in a better position, the development and education in rural areas of Jamaica will be a top priority, especially in my grandparents home of Lucea, where the hospital is in serious needs of finance. Currently they are using plastic garden chairs with bike wheels attached for wheelchairs, bloodstained walls and open sewage lines when you enter the hospital. Whilst a short 10 min drive away you have the 5star Hilton or Riu Club Negril and with deck chairs and im sure it really would not cost the Hilton Hotel a dollar to donate 5-10 wheelchairs to Lucea hospital. A majority if peoples infatuation with the US and US dollars is seriously un-healthy to the fact that Jamaica is rapidly losing its identity and in danger is becoming another American State country, like some of the other Caribbean Islands.
