I was listening to one of my Bitcoin podcasts that allow people to pay for a little bit of airtime to present whatever they want to promote. There was a paying sponsor who had a pro Palestinian message that was delivered although the host seemed less then comfortable (his name implies that he might possibly be Jewish). The sponsor was a bit clueless like when Rodney King said cant we all just get along?. The host read the ad as he was obligated to do and then gave a reasonable counter without getting too challenging. I went to the Website for that show and saw the comments on that episode and responded directly to that comment (that was the person who sponsored the show mention). Here was the relevant part of his his post and then after, my reply: Sponsor: At first, I was worried that the points I raised didnt mention the urgency of the current situation, but then I realized this was just right. The media will cover bombings and killing of children for obvious reasons, its graphic and horrible and will get ratings. But they almost never discuss context and history, which is what people need in order to make sense of the situation, how it came to be, and make up their own minds about what should be done. As bad as things are, I dont believe this is a hopeless situation. Not that long ago, people of many faiths, creeds, and colours lived together peacefully in the area of land now known as Israel/Palestine. Jews and Arabs lived alongside each other, did business with each other, and their children played together. It may take time, but I believe this can come to be again, albeit after much turmoil and reconciliation. We have seen this before, Apartheid ended, without the bloodbath many predicted. Peace, however tenuous, has been reached in Northern Ireland. People that many thought could never live together now have, if not perfect peace, and not perfect justice, some sort of resolution and a will to move forward together. Just a few years before Apartheid ended in South Africa, no one would have predicted it, even those campaigning for the cause were talking about victory decades in the future. In East Germany, many rebels talked about achieving freedom within a hundred years. As bad as things are, as much hate as there may be, this is not the end. Indeed, the racism and virulence in South Africa only escalated before Apartheid ended, as people took more and more extreme positions. People dont like change, they fear it, often with legitimate reasons. Yet eventually a situation was reached where people were forced to make a choice, one they didnt want to make, but looking at all the bad alternatives, they finally, reluctantly, made the right one. This can happen again, and perhaps faster than people think. Dantes Posted Reply: To me it is very straight forward. The Palestinians chose a terrorist organization to run their government. That government spent a fortune on building tunnels with the intent to kill Jews with the same mindset as their mentors/partners (the Nazis). This was money that would have been better spent on the Palestinian people (and children). Then they began the endless firing of rockets into Israel from locations that intentionally house civilians including children. Those people are either forced to remain in place by Hamas or are willing to be martyrs and remain with the rocket launchers due to the indoctrination theyve been subjected to by Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. This serves as a perfect propaganda campaign to serve Hamas as any Israeli retaliation will benefit Hamas intended narrative of vilifying Israel since they know that Israels accurate targeting of Hamas rocket launchers will result in civilian casualties and thus a PR victory for Hamas. Israel has clearly demonstrated numerous times that they are looking forward to peace but that is not the case for Hamas and the previous Palestinian leaders. Why? Thats easy to answer - peace in not acceptable to them. They want the Jews driven into the sea. There is no other option for them. They worked closely with Hitler during WWII and nothing has changed since then. This is like deja vu all over again (as Yogi Berra coined). We are living in a replay of the 1930s when the world was passively watching the antisemitism of pre WWII. I never thought it could happen again but many people dont pay attention to history. BTW, Im not a Jew but I will defend my Jewish friends as did my Father in WWII. This post is all I can do at this moment to defend my Jewish friends that are under attack but its not all I am willing to do - the least of which is to attempt to educate and dispel the misinformation that the mainstream media is addicted to promoting.
