I was listening to one of those If you could take only one album - TopicsExpress

I was listening to one of those If you could take only one album to a desert island, what would it be? shows. I am almost never motivated to think of the record, book or whatever I would take. In fact, the thought of just one is unattractive to me. I have a favorite song. But, if I had to listen to Paul McCartney sing I Will, for a couple of days, I would learn to hate it. I have concluded that the thing that would prevent me from picking one thing to take to that desert island is the one thing I would take. It is my curiosity. Like the cat of legend, my curiosity has killed me in a metaphorical sense. But, as the saying concludes, satisfaction brought me back. I love being curious. I love knowing how things really work. I love looking into events and seeing what factors caused them to be the only possible outcomes. I cant imagine not being curious. I wonder how the world would be different if more people were more curious than they are. Could a racist remain a racist if they took the time to examine the facts about human DNA? Would things have turned out different if George Bush had been curious about the briefings he received saying al Qaeda appeared to be putting in place a plan to attack America in 2001? Would we be less polarized if people gave facts more weight than philosophies and biases? I am curious about these and many other things.
