I was living on First Ave. in Manistee with room mate Terry Walker in a duplex, owned by Andy Kott. Our cars were totally buried--I mean totally. On the third day, we jumped down intro a snow bank from an unused doorway with no steps...and walked to the store....luckily we never lost heat and power. Our doorway had about 4 ft. of heavy compressed snow holding it shut tight from the outside......actually, one of my enduring memories of my two years in the Salt City.
