I was maybe 13 when I first heard this song. We would have these talent shows at my junior high (Martin Luther King Cobras, yall!) and the finale for one of them was an all-city group of breakers and lockers jamming to this. The dancing was great, but the song really got stuck in my head. I remembered that the MC had introduced it as beat box, but I thought that couldnt have been right. It was way too simplistic. It should have had a name like Robo-mojo swing-twang bop-bop-bop black hole bass cannon!!! Like Douglas Adams, Art of Noise kept remixing and re-editing their songs over the years, so this version is a bit different than the more widely available ones. But I like it for the shots of 1984 London, and the young Paul Morley, who, if you squint a bit, looks enough like David Tennant to make me wonder if AoN might have been ahead of their time for a reason.
