I was raised to not believe in the power of the Spirit. I loved - TopicsExpress

I was raised to not believe in the power of the Spirit. I loved Jesus and served Him faithfully, but after a few years, my life began to feel very dry. I longed for passion, but it just wasnt there. I longed to hear the voice of God, like Moses, and Abraham, but my theology wouldnt allow it. Id say wistfully to God, “You cant blame me for wanting to hear Your voice.” A close friend began telling me stories that sounded like the book of Acts, but they were her real experience. She said it started when she received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. I said, “I thought that was automatic when we got saved.” She said “Maybe you should rethink that,” and suggested I read a book by Jack Deere, “Surprised by the Power of the Spirit.” So I did. He refuted every objection I had, both scripturally, historically, and in his own experience. My theology flipped, and I began seeking the baptism. My friend laid hands on me, and I felt the fire rush into me, in a powerful God-encounter. Passion filled me from that day on, and to my thrilled delight, I began hearing His voice. That was 12 years ago (age 44), and He continues to take me to new heights, loving me into wholeness, speaking to me constantly, enthralling me with His passion. Im crazy in love with You, Holy Ghost! You have SO changed my life!
