I was riding my bike down 87th avenue in Miami. There were busy morning traffic; cars traveling up and down the street. Loosely riding, I tripped over a small piece of metal protruding out of the ground. My bike teetered to the left, I lost grip, and I tipped over onto oncoming traffic. What happened next was nothing short of a miracle. There was a bright light and a short message, “I’m not done with you yet.” I only recall being lifted onto the sidewalk, cars around me (not on me), bike maligned, but my body completely untouched. I’m not unique, He is. My life was spared. John mentions not only the great love of Christ in chapter 5, but His great acts. “Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.” (v.1) He is not the one that comes only by the Spirit, but is evidenced through the water, and with the blood. Jesus is the atoning one, the redemptive one, and the one who overcame. (vv.5-8) My life was given back, because I truly believe it was He who has life has granted that life back. “He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.” (v.12) Therefore, I have since had a renewed purpose: sharing the Gospel with no hesitation and preaching to reach the lost. Yet unrighteousness and evil plagues the world. “And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.” (v.20) This chapter was a reflection on God’s goodness through His Son. I should have been severely injured at least on that day I had the accident, but the Lord was not finished with me. His plan is greater than my plan. God has redeemed my life in order that I might do His work faithfully and without pause. My prayer for you is that your life would be reflective of the same. Don’t let apathy govern your life. You are meant to serve and to suffer for His greater purpose. Will you faithfully take that chance? #godlylegacy “The Spirit-filled life is not a special, deluxe edition of Christianity. It is part and parcel of the total plan of God for His people.” –AW Tozer
