I was so hoping wed get some snow or rain. The fertilizer was spread, as it was supposed to be rainy. I was counting on getting my lawn greened. Well, I guess Im baking bread again today. It seems that illusive Somebody turned off the oven when I was baking yesterday, thereby ruining the bread. grrrrrr... I have ground beef to use. I think I shall brown it off, and add some home canned chili sauce, and a quart of pinto beans. Ill add sauted onions and a pint of mushrooms with their broth. We love mushrooms in our chili. Ill use my dutch oven, and brown the onions, and beef. Then add in the rest, along with a couple T of chili powder, a tsp of cumin, and three cloves of garlic grated in. Ill put the lid on, and let it finish in the oven on 300*F until Don gets home from work. if it cooks about an hour, the flavors will have melded nicely. Don likes Fritos with his chili, but I am a diced raw onion and a spash of vinegar on top person. I saved the bacon grease ( a quarter cup) and Ill heat it in my 9 inch skillet. Ill mix up some sourdough cornbread, and bake it in the oven after I pull out the chili.
