I was talking to a wealthy woman, a real beauty and brain. She said, Portia, Ive no respect for our politicians, majority of them are beggars. Come and see how theyre all begging now because elections are here. My same sentiments about these folks too. Theyre like our Nollywood players and our hip-pop/modern day musicians. Some of these folks were nothing, but politics has now made them who they could never have dreamt of becoming. If you cant carve a niche in business, or use your university certificates to find a job in an oil company, the nearest and fastest option is start singing and acting. Same reason folks dabble into politics. With music and acting, you may not be mega-wealthy, but you would not be that hungry and fame can be thrown in for good measure. Now, its like the Nollywood, players are hanging their gloves up and opting out for the most lucrative industry in Nigeria, Politics they too have suddenly, realized the quickest way to put food on their tables, is to join d movement to the various Houses and Constituencies, with one agenda in mind to amass wealth. Now, Kate Henshaw -If you want change, not not money, vote me for real? Funke Adesiyan-PDP has a better chance of winning in Oyo okay thats why shes in PDP? Good valid reason. Smdh! Muma Gee- Im using my gift to liberate my people how Im still wondering. Desmond Elliot-My plan is to make sure, I get my people empowered. Hes still not told us how. Kenneth Okonkwo, Julius Agwu, 9ice, Yemi Solade, Tony Tetuila, Dayo Adeneye (D-One), Jibola Dabor et al. But, seriously, what are these people offering us Nigerians? They all are singing the same flat tunes, and delivering the same notes, without any variations. What are the changes theyre advocating? What is it, theyre going to do differently, from what the already pack of brigands are not doing? Whats their flavour of the day? Its like this wind of change is only blowing into their thinning pockets, as Nollywood, isnt that lucrative after all, but not into their brains. What can these people really offer our situation? Interpreting a soft script is different from governance. Okay, they would learn the rudiments of trade whilst working on the trade. Experience, I suppose, like all of them. Exciting times ahead. These folks put Nigeria, on a map, I wish they would interpret same in our Democracy. I doubt it very much.
