I watched a couple of college commencement addresses on CSPAN recently which caused me to check out UCLAs ceremonies. UCLA has yet to conduct its graduation ceremonies and will, as I understand, have separate commencement exercises for different schools. The bad news here is that this great university has invited to speak at ceremonies marking graduation for the School of Theater, Film and Television none other than Hanoi Jane. This amounts to a disgrace. Akin to having Tokyo Rose giving a eulogy for American soldiers who assaulted the German fortifications at Omaha Beach or who fought the Japanese at Iwo Jima. Incomprehensible! Jane Fonda ought to be shunned by EVERY American, EVERYWHERE she goes or can be found - not honored by a great university by being accorded the privilege of addressing its graduates at a commencement. UCLA should withdraw the honor and instead arrange to honor those American POWs who faced intensified beatings and torture following the time at which certain of the prisoners attempted to pass messages through Fonda to their families only to discover that Hanoi Jane ratted them out to their captors. Disgusting!
