I went and saw Gone Girl last night, mainly to hear the score from Trent Reznor (which was absolutely fantastic), but I cant shake the disturbing feeling I left the movie theater with. This movie was bar none, the most misogynistic film I have ever laid my eyes/ears on. I cant really talk about why I feel that way without giving away major spoilers, but I encourage you to see this movie with your eyes and mind wide open, and try to critically evaluate some of the extremely incorrect messages its trying to send (but hopefully not on purpose) to its viewing audience. The score was fantastic, the plot on a completely surface level was compelling, but thats pretty much where the enjoyment stopped for me, I just cant believe a story like that has been made without recognizing the dangerous social implications it may bring on.
