I went looking at new cars yesterday because my 16 yr old daughter Sabrina was trying to convince me to trade in my Honda CRV for a Volkswagen Beetle. I told her I would look at it but thought it would be way too small for me (which it is). Of course, once you step into a dealership the salespeople swarm in. So this woman who I thought was nice at first insists on showing us every type Volkswagen there and tells me that Hondas fall apart at the seams in a crash and are not safe but Volkswagen are the safest car. She even hung on a car door to show us how the door would not come off with all of her weight and insinuated that a Honda door would come right off. She had me convinced that my Honda was unsafe and I ALMOST got a Volkswagen Teiguan! Thankfully, my intuition kicked in and I did a Google search on my phone and found out my Honda CRV had a BETTER crash start rating than the Teiguan! The crazy part is she works for Rick Case who owns both Honda and the Volkswagen dealerships. Lessons learned: Never buy anything because of scare tactics, always do your research and always trust your intuition!
