I went to the Rail Bar quite a few times in 1960. The bar was on the ground floor and in the basement there was entertainment, mostly folk music back then. A young lady, a friend and I knew, sang there on certain nights. The waitresses wore Playboy Bunny type outfits, no ears. Seems unusual, looking back, to wear that type outfit in a folk music place. The barmaids at the Hungry Eye Bar on Vernor wore the same type outfits as the Rail Bar waitresses did. The Hungry Eye was a Beatnik bar, a band and poetry reading. The police finally had it closed down, to much trouble. I know that one guy was killed there and maybe one more. Id like to find out more about the Hungry Eye Bar. If I recall right it wasnt to far from Clark Park. One of the barmaids was from the Rouge.
