I will remember this day for ever!! Six year girl got separated from mother in the mad rush of Central Railway!! The fear in her eyes was compelling for me to assure the girl that we will find her mother. She could not tell address, phone number anything else except her name Shafa. Decided to skip important meetings and took the girl to Dadar Station Master. While getting down asked a co-passenger to call help line and alert all stations and exchanged our numbers. After that there was a long wait for half an hour and finally from out of blue, mother of the child arrived at Dadar station. The joy of reunion of a mother and a small baby girl was worth missing many important meetings. No words exchanged!! The tears in the eyes of the Mother said it all. Today I experienced the true spirit of Mumbai yet again. The Central Railway helpline worked just fine, the announcement followed immediately, Byculla station master tracked women at station and put her on another train and informed Dadar Station master. Dadar Station Master followed the train she was travelling and police at the Dadar station duty got the mother to the station masters office where myself and Shafa were waiting. Hats off to Central Railway!! Hats off to all those who responded spontaneously!! Its a small story of a little girl Shafa and me and I will remember it for ever!! Today was a special day!!
