I witnessed one of the most depressing things in this city yesterday. Homeless people with their blankets, preparing to make a bed out of a cluster of park benches. Im sure a lot of them made bad choices but we ALL make bad choices. The worst part of their situation is that they are absolutely stuck. We give all this government assistance to people who are cutting corners around the system so they fall into the category of qualified. But these people dont have that option. They have no home address so they cant get assistance. They have no assistance so they cant afford a home, even temporary. I know we all see scams on the side of the road asking for money. But this was very real. And those of you saying they should just get a job. How do you expect them to bathe and clothe themselves to even have a chance in an interview? They are mostly uneducated individuals (and some are even retired Veterans who fought for OUR freedom) who need REAL help yet we continue to bleed money to people (and even corporations) that honestly do not need it. One day, Ill find a way to help. End of rant.
