I witnessed two incredible acts of kindness at lunch today and just cant help but share... 1) An elderly couple came into Chilis and sat at a table next to us. We overheard the husband tell the hostess it was his wifes 94th birthday today with the most adoring smile on his face. And shortly there after he told another couple sitting nearby that in 3 weeks he would be 98. A lady at a separate table who had not spoken to them at all had finished her meal and was preparing to leave as she walked over to their table, very casually grabbed their ziosk and swiped her card to pay their bill. She gently sat it back down on their table, receipt printing out, and told the woman a simple happy birthday. The couple had no idea what had just happened but when their server finally explained they grabbed hands and said a little prayer for the kind stranger.... And I sat and wiped my tears. 2) In the midst of #1 a very young man was seated at the table behind us, his back to mine. The server came to greet him with the usually rhetorical How are you today? But when this young man replied with the not usual ok or good but instead a desperate sigh. The waitress sat herself down and talked to this guy like a friend, and after a few minutes of casual and friendly conversation the mans sadness seemed to disappear. He smiled and thanked her for making him feel better. It was beautiful, and sadly unique in this day in age to watch two strangers make another strangers day with such a simple act. #payitforward #pimpinjoy
