I woke up this morning, tired from yesterdays activities of the Abeokuta Sports Club 110yrs anniversary Gala Nite where I happen to be a member. It was so much fun. While getting ready for the Clubs thanksgiving which is 10am here in Abeokuta, I decided to do a quick check on this page. I then came across the post below in the inbox from a friend on this page. Ive decided to post on the page for all to see and probably learn from. I hope my friend will not be annoyed with this decision. Good morning Moturayo, how is your child? Please I will be frank with you this morning as I pose the following questions and teasers to you. 1. Do you know what party supremacy is? 2. You do not represent a new breed of change agent Nigerians are desperately yawning for, reason being that your solution to challenges in abandonment. If you are face exactly with the same challenges again in PDP, where do you run to? Where is your resolve to solve issues amicably? 3. For your set of politicians, its all about power grabbing and sharing so please spare me that it all about the people speech of yours. What happens to abiding to a principle/party and standing by it? 4. Is staying in APC/PDP/LABOUR or whatever party through your lifetime a crime? From Amosun to Osoba to OGD, you guys are just a bunch of disappointment to my generation. Let me quickly respond to this here: Good morning and thanks for your pleasantries. My CHILDREN are fine and I believe you are too. The statement The only thing that is constant in life is change is not a mere statement but a statement of fact. Lets go political. The party, Alliance for Democracy went through a lot of changes like becoming AC, ACN before metamorphosing into All Peoples Congress that we have today with so many antics and intrigues taking place. A lot of subtraction and addition. Infact, on a lighter note, the only major political party that has been constant in the last 16yrs is PDP. no change of name. Lol. I believe it was obvious in my post that there are other reasons to my decision which I will not want to talk about now. I have a few posers too; You mentioned party supremacy. So, what does one do in a situation where party supremacy has been thrown to the dogs? Where it is now about loyalty to a person rather than party? What qualifies a person as a Change Agent? Is it by being in a party all of ones life even when the ideology of the party no longer agrees with ones personal ideology of change? As for power grabbing, have you ever come across the statement that Power is not served a la carte? In as much as we are not ready as youth to work and grab power, it will continue to be The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow even at 50yrs. If you know me well, you will know I am not a coward that runs away from challenges but even the Yoruba proverb says moja mosa la fi nmo Akogun logun. Akogun to ba moja, ti ko mosa, iru won ma nbogun lo ni. Will you because of the love you have for an airline stay back on it when it is being evacuated because of a danger signal? Or will you stay back on a ship that is about to capsize with an opportunity for you to sail to safety all because you like the captain of the ship? The issue of staying in a party all through ones lifetime do not even arise as the parties themselves changes from time to time. The likes of Gen. Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu were in opposition yesterday but in the same political boat today and a lot of people are lauding the collaboration. Atiku left PDP for ACN, went back to PDP and now in APC. Ribadu is back in PDP as we speak. What does that tell you about party ideology? Who knows who will be next? So, what then is the difference between the parties? I have said it at different fora and forum that party ideology has been eroded in Nigeria. Having transversed different political parties in my over 20yrs of politicking, I have come to the conclusion that the difference between party A and B is like the difference between twelve and half dozen. The major difference is the person in the middle of it. NONE IS ALL GOOD AND NONE IS ALL EVIL. This is why I have been an advocate of INDEPENDENT CANDIDACY. I believe if this can be enshrined in our constitution, Nigeria will become a better place. The ELECTED WILL BE DIRECTLY ACCOUNTABLE TO THE ELECTORATE WHILE THE ELECTORATE TAKES RESPONSIBILITY OF WHATEVER LEADERSHIP THEY GET FROM THIER ELECTED. The electorate will not be limited to having to chose the least devil out of the devils the different parties would have presented them with. Lol. Our politics in Nigeria needs a lot of reform but we can only use what we have currently as a pedestal to getting what we truly need. Finally my friend, It is not always the way it looks outside. I am occupying just a minute part of the space available in politics. I am waiting to see you take up the gauntlet and join active politics of contesting elections. Politics is full of dynamics and intrigues but I believe strongly that: YES, TOGETHER WE CAN Thanks and God Bless Us All NB: All, kindly remember me in your prayers o as replying this piece has eaten into my time. Lol. Have to go and join the others now. HAVE A BLESSED SUNDAY.
