I wonder why if a person gets heating assistance money from the US taxpayers, the propane company wont tell you the price of propane? This happens every year. One year my friend used my phone to call the local propane company to order gas. They asked her if she had heating assistance and she told them that she had cash. They quoted her a price. After she left I called the same company and when I told them I had heating assistance they quoted me a different price. When I told them they had quoted a lower price to a friend who had cash, the woman on the phone got irate and told me I was wrong. I ended up buying the gas at a higher price and contacted my Senator and there was an investigation. The end result was I could no longer get gas from them and there werent many propane companies in the area. Today I received a bill of over $100 above what my heating assistance covered. Had I known this I would have only put the minimum number of gallons in. But there are so many new fees I would have ended up with less gas and still owed the same amount of money. I hate that I have to depend on the taxpayers to make it, but that is no call for the people who provide goods and services to us low income people to rip off that money. Taxpayers have a right to be angry.
