I wonder why no-one is actually challenging the common US practice - TopicsExpress

I wonder why no-one is actually challenging the common US practice to have your employees always available, even when they are at home. I am a libertarian, but I really think this must be regulated. Such a move will help to lower the unemployment rate further, and make Americans happier people, and not caught up in work, blurring the line between their jobs and what they are. The first question the Americans ask when meeting you is about your job, and this is insane. My job does not define who I am, and such a question raises a concern: You are not actually interested in me as a person, but rather in my social status, how much I make, can I help you in promoting your career etc. This is so absurd. I am unemployed, I am a Vice President - what do you make of this?
