I work in the NYC jail system, so its common to walk down jail - TopicsExpress

I work in the NYC jail system, so its common to walk down jail corridors along side incarcerated men and women everyday. Whats not so common is to walk in the same line as they do. Until today. The corridor was so narrow that I had to join the line of prisoners heading in the same direction I was, to get to my destination. Something I have no issue with doing, unless of course, Im confused with a prisoner and they try to keep me in. Just saying. But as I was walking on line, I remembered the verse about Jesus in Isaiah 53:12, ...he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors. Isaiah was forecasting Jesus willingness to be numbered with the accused and the guilty (us). He was not only numbered with them, he was also found guilty with them, even condemned to death for crimes they had committed. Despite his innocence and sinlessness, he received the condemnation for our guilt. As I walked in that line today, I felt deep compassion for those men but also knew how greatly Jesus loves them. Enough to walk on that line with them. I looked on and remembered how once I was on a similar line because of my sin, but thank God Jesus was also on that line and set me free.
