I would like to make one more point about the proposed sales tax and Pocahontasaquaticcenter-our city pool that we are currently using is in horrible shape. During the last inspection of the pool the health department said that "the ongoing deterioration of the physical aspects of this complex cannot be ignored and must be addressed. Collapsing of the pool deck or catastrophic failure of the pool(s) sidewalls is a near certainty. Major renovations must attent to the mentioned issues if the facility continues to operate." It is my understanding that the pool is in such bad shape that it is really not feasible to repair. At the present time it is only open on a provisional basis, and it could be closed at any time if the health department determines that it is no longer safe. It is also my understanding that, in its current condition, it would more than likely not reopen next year. Therefore, if this sales tax does not pass Pocahontas and Randolph County would no longer have a city pool available for our community. This facility would be an asset to our town and people of all ages!
